Psalm 95:4 says that the deepest places of the earth and the highest mountain peaks both belong to God, held in his hand. The image is of total ownership and care: nothing in creation is outside his reach, from the bottom of the seas and caves to the tallest summits. It is a psalm of praise, reminding the reader that the Creator is greater than everything he made.

Today we map the ocean floor with sonar and climb or fly over the highest peaks, so it can feel like the world has been fully explained and conquered. Yet a person scrolling through news late at night, or worrying about a job or a diagnosis, may still feel small and unanchored. This verse invites a different kind of perspective: that the vastness we measure with satellites and budgets is held by something larger than our control, which can loosen the grip of our own anxieties about what we cannot manage.
