Psalms 123:3 – Bedeutung
Psalms 123:3 2026-10-14
Erbarme dich unser, o HERR! Erbarme dich unser; denn wir sind der Verachtung gründlich satt!
Was es bedeutet
Psalm 123 is a short prayer from people who have been looked down on for a long time. Verse 3 pleads for mercy twice, because they have been scorned by those who feel secure and comfortable. The contempt is not just a passing insult; it has worn them down. They do not ask for revenge, only for compassion and relief from being treated as worthless.
Für heute
Many people today know this kind of contempt: the colleague who never listens to the junior staff member, the online comment section that mocks anyone who struggles, the landlord or official who treats people on benefits as lazy, or the family member who keeps reminding you of your failures. Being looked down on, day after day, can wear down self-respect and make people feel invisible. The verse gives words to that exhaustion and to the honest request to be seen as human again.
Zum Mitnehmen
Wenn dich Verachtung müde gemacht hat, darfst du ehrlich sagen, dass es zu viel ist, und dir selbst mit der Würde begegnen, die dir andere gerade verweigern.
