Psalms 123:3 – betydning
Psalms 123:3 2026-10-14
Forbarm dig over os, HERRE, forbarm dig! Thi overmætte er vi af Spot,
Hvad det betyder
Psalm 123 is a plea from people who have been looked down on and mocked for a long time. Verse 3 asks Yahweh directly for mercy, repeated twice for emphasis, because the contempt they have borne has worn them down. The verse does not explain who the scorners are or offer a neat fix; it simply names the weight of being despised and turns to God for relief.
Til i dag
Most of us know what it is to be looked down on: a boss who dismisses your work in meetings, a online comment section that treats you as worthless, a family member who never takes you seriously, or a neighbourhood or workplace where your background makes people quietly write you off. Over time that scorn does not stay outside you; it settles into tiredness, self-doubt and a habit of bracing for the next slight. The psalm gives words for that kind of accumulated hurt and admits it is not something you should simply shrug off. It also reminds us that asking for mercy, rather than pretending to be fine, is an honest act.

Det er okay at indrømme, hvor meget foragt du har båret på, og at sige det højt, selv hvis det kun er til dig selv eller til Gud.
