Matthew 25:38 – Bedeutung

Matthew 25:38 2026-10-10

Wann haben wir dich als Fremdling gesehen und haben dich beherbergt, oder nackt und haben dich bekleidet?

Was es bedeutet

Matthew 25:38 is part of Jesus' parable of the sheep and the goats. Here the righteous ask the king, who is Jesus in the story, when they ever saw him as a stranger without a home and took him in, or naked and clothed him. They are genuinely surprised, because they never remember meeting him in such need. The verse shows that they cared for people in need without knowing that they were serving Jesus himself, and this unaware kindness is what the parable praises.

Für heute

Today many people are strangers in a new way: the refugee in a crowded shelter, the young person who has just moved to a big city and sleeps on a friend's sofa, the coworker who quietly struggles with debt. Help often happens through small, unglamorous acts, like giving a warm coat, offering a spare room, or simply not looking away in a crowded train. In a world where social media shows us constant images of need while we feel powerless, the verse asks a practical question: who is actually in front of me, and what could I do for them right now, without needing applause or recognition?

Zum Mitnehmen

Kindness does not need to be planned or noticed to matter, so today look for the person nearby who needs something simple from you and respond without waiting for credit.
