Matthew 25:38 – betydning
Matthew 25:38 2026-10-10
Naar saa vi dig fremmed og toge dig hjem til os, eller nøgen og klædte dig?
Hvad det betyder
Matthew 25:38 is part of Jesus's parable of the sheep and the goats, where the righteous ask the king when they ever saw him as a stranger or naked and took him in or clothed him. The question shows they did not recognize the need as Jesus's own, and their surprise is the point: care given to the least of people is counted as care given to him. The verse is about ordinary, practical hospitality and clothing offered to someone who has nothing to offer back.
Til i dag
In Denmark today, a 'stranger' might be a newly arrived refugee in a municipal housing block, a foreign worker living in a cramped shared flat, or simply a neighbour who moved in last month and no one has spoken to. Being 'naked' in a modern sense can mean lacking winter clothes, a decent coat, or the dignity of not being seen in worn-out things, as happens to people in bad financial stretches. The verse asks something uncomfortable: we often help when it is easy and visible, and walk past when it means real inconvenience. It also raises the question of whether we notice those needs at all, when so much of our attention goes to screens and our own busy lives.
