Job 5:19 – merkitys

Job 5:19 2026-10-28

Kuudesta hädästä hän sinut pelastaa, ja seitsemässä ei onnettomuus sinua kohtaa.

Mitä se tarkoittaa

Job 5:19 says that God will rescue a person through six troubles, and even in a seventh no harm will finally reach them. The number seven is a common Hebrew way of saying 'complete' or 'enough,' so the sense is that trouble will come in full measure, yet it will not be the last word. The verse sits in a speech by Eliphaz, one of Job's friends, who argues that God rescues the humble; Job himself later challenges that view, so the verse is best read as a hopeful claim that the book itself questions, not a guarantee that hardship will never touch a believer.

Tälle päivälle

Many people today live through a string of troubles that feel endless: a layoff followed by a sick parent, a breakup followed by money stress, a long run of bad news on the phone at night. The verse doesn't promise that life will be free of these. It offers a more modest comfort, that the hard stretch has a limit and that you are not left alone inside it. For someone worn down by constant crisis or by the pressure to always be coping, that can be a real relief, though it is not a cure. Readers who have been through deep suffering may also notice how the book of Job pushes back on tidy promises, which is worth holding onto honestly.

Mukaan otettavaksi

Hard seasons often come in clusters, and while you cannot always see how they end, you can ask yourself what one small thing you can do today to keep going.
