1 Peter 4:9 – význam
1 Peter 4:9 2026-10-17
Buďte vespolek přívětiví k hostem, bez reptání.
Co to znamená
Peter asks his readers to welcome one another, opening their homes and lives to others, and to do it without complaining or resenting the cost. The hospitality itself is the expected thing; the grumbling is what he wants removed. In the early church, travelling believers and strangers relied on other households for shelter and meals, so the request was practical as well as spiritual, and it was about the attitude as much as the act.
Pro dnešek
Most of us do not run guesthouses, but the tension is familiar: you say yes to hosting your sister's family for a week, or to bringing dinner to a neighbour after surgery, and then spend the whole time sighing inwardly about the mess, the lost weekend, the phone you keep checking. Hospitality in a busy, often lonely city is rarely grand; it is making room in a calendar already overfull, answering a friend's late-night message, or letting a coworker crash on your sofa. The verse is honest that giving can feel heavy. It does not ask you to pretend otherwise, only to notice when resentment has taken over and to let the giving be lighter.
K zapamatování
Dnes si všimni, kde pohostinnost pro někoho děláš jen z povinnosti, a zkus ji nechat být o něco vlídnější, i kdyby to bylo jen v jediném malém gestu.
