1 Corinthians 9:14: ερμηνεία
1 Corinthians 9:14 2026-10-19
Ούτω και ο Κύριος διέταξεν, οι κηρύττοντες το ευαγγέλιον να ζώσιν εκ του ευαγγελίου.
Τι σημαίνει
Paul is arguing that people who preach the gospel have a right to be supported by those who receive it. He grounds this in the ordinary logic of work: soldiers, vineyard workers, and shepherds all eat from what their labor produces, so it is fair for a teacher of the message to live from it too. Paul himself often chose to work with his own hands rather than take support, so this is a principle he affirms without always insisting on exercising it.
Για σήμερα
Today this touches real questions: should a pastor, a community organizer, or a volunteer teacher be paid, and who pays them? Many people feel uneasy when faith or charity becomes a job, and others feel that a teacher who gives their whole week to a community deserves to be fed like any other worker. Paul's verse doesn't settle every case, but it sets a simple fairness test: if your work serves others, the people you serve share in carrying your living.

Fair support for those who give their time to others is not a favor to them but a shared responsibility that keeps good work sustainable.
