Isaiah 40:2 – význam
Isaiah 40:2 2026-10-15
Isaiah 40:2 is a message of consolation addressed to Jerusalem after a long period of suffering and exile. The speaker tells the messengers to speak tenderly to the city and to announce that its time of hard service is over, that its guilt has been forgiven, and that it has already received from God's hand a punishment that was, in a sense, double what its sins deserved. The point is not that God doubled the punishment as a cruel excess, but that the suffering is now finished and the debt is paid, so a new chapter of restoration can begin.
Pro dnešek
Many people today carry a long, quiet sense of having failed or of being stuck in consequences: a bad decision that keeps costing them, a burnout that never seems to end, guilt over old mistakes that replays at 3 a.m. while scrolling through someone else's highlight reel. The verse speaks to that exhausted place. It does not pretend the hard years did not happen. It says that the period of struggle has an end and that the account can be closed. For a person who has been paying for something for years, hearing that the sentence is over can be an unexpected relief, something worth sitting with rather than rushing past.
