Philippians 3:3: significato
Philippians 3:3 2026-11-05
poiché i veri circoncisi siamo noi, che offriamo il nostro culto per mezzo dello Spirito di Dio, che ci gloriamo in Cristo Gesù, e non ci confidiamo nella carne;
Cosa significa
Paul tells the Philippian believers that they are the true 'circumcision' not because of a physical mark on the body, but because they serve God by the Spirit, take their pride in Christ Jesus, and refuse to trust in outward credentials or human effort. For Paul, the 'flesh' stands for everything a person can display or rely on to earn standing before God, such as heritage, religious status, and achievement. He is writing from a position of strength, since he had more of those credentials than most, and he came to see them as worthless compared with knowing Christ.
Per oggi
Many people today measure their worth through what they can show: a job title, a follower count, a polished résumé, a body shaped by the gym, or a list of accomplishments that never feels quite long enough. The verse asks where your confidence actually sits. It is easy to tie your sense of being acceptable to performance, and then every setback feels like a verdict on who you are. Paul's point is that real security can rest somewhere that does not need constant proof. That can be a relief in a culture of comparison, where feeds constantly show us someone who seems to have more, and it can also be uncomfortable, because letting go of self-justification means facing our limits honestly.
