Proverbs 13:15 contrasts two paths. Sound judgment and good sense earn goodwill from others, so people tend to warm to someone who thinks clearly and acts wisely. But the path of those who betray trust or live unfaithfully is rough: it leads to broken relationships, lost credibility, and consequences that are hard to escape. The verse is less a promise of guaranteed reward than an observation about how life usually tends to unfold.

Think of a coworker who is consistently honest about deadlines and mistakes: over time, people trust them with bigger projects and give them the benefit of the doubt. Compare that with someone who fudges reports or says one thing and does another; the shortcuts often come back as strained teams, lost jobs, or a reputation that takes years to repair. In an age of online reviews, screenshots, and short memories that never really forget, the verse's point about consequences feels even more concrete. It does not mean good people never suffer, and it is honest that faithfulness can cost something in the short run.
