One Verse a DayDaily Scripture

Romans 12:15 2026-07-11

Rejoice with those who rejoice. Weep with those who weep.

What it means

Show up emotionally for people wherever they are — don't redirect, minimize, or project your own feelings onto their moment. Match them. If they're celebrating, celebrate. If they're grieving, grieve. The verse is asking for genuine emotional presence, not management.

For today

This is surprisingly hard in a culture that defaults to fixing. Someone loses a job and we immediately brainstorm solutions. Someone gets engaged and we half-heartedly like the post while scrolling past. We're wired — partly by habit, partly by social media's performance pressure — to respond to other people's emotional moments with our own agenda. This verse is a quiet correction: put their feeling first. Sit with a friend who's crying without rushing them to 'look on the bright side.' Actually feel excited for a colleague's promotion even when your own career feels stuck. That second one especially — rejoicing with someone when you're hurting — is one of the harder things a person can do.

Takeaway

Today, if someone shares something big — good or hard — resist the urge to steer, and just let yourself actually be there with them in it.
