Revelation 19:5 describes a voice coming from the heavenly throne, calling on everyone who serves God and honors him, both the lowly and the powerful, to give praise. In its setting, it comes right before a great song of celebration in heaven, so it is an invitation to join a shared chorus where status makes no difference: small and great stand together before God.

In Norway, where we value equality and often distrust grand gestures, this verse lands in an interesting way. Many of us feel like small voices in big systems, whether at a workplace where decisions are made far above us, or in online debates where the loudest and most famous get all the attention. The verse suggests that in the eyes of the one it addresses, the quiet nurse on a night shift or the teenager who feels invisible counts just as much as the people with titles and followers. It also asks something of us: to stop measuring our worth by rank or reach, and to find meaning in simply taking part, even if no one applauds.
