One Verse a DayDaily Scripture

Deuteronomy 7:21 2026-08-15

You shall not be scared of them; for Yahweh your God is among you, a great and awesome God.

What it means

The Israelites are told not to let fear of powerful opponents paralyze them, because the God who is with them is greater than whatever they're facing. The emphasis is on presence — God isn't watching from a distance, but is *among* them, in the thick of it.

For today

Most of us aren't facing literal armies, but we know the feeling of being outmatched — a medical diagnosis, a toxic workplace, a financial hole that seems impossible to climb out of, a cultural moment that feels overwhelming. Fear has a way of shrinking our sense of what's possible and making the threat in front of us feel absolute. This verse pushes back on that tunnel vision. It's not saying the threat isn't real or the road will be easy. It's saying you're not alone in it, and alone is what makes fear most devastating.

Takeaway

Whatever is looming large for you today, try to sit with the possibility that you're not as isolated in it as fear is telling you you are.
